STB Rolan Deep

"Humanity never loved me. Being a bug did. It loves me. Every enhancement I get--- it is made from love. It rebuilds and reshapes me to be better. Than what I hate. I am immensely more valiant, hasty. Well-built and efficient than any human ever because I am being consumed by what loves me. Because I finally let it love me. I don't need your whispers of sweet nothings, or the accepting glare of a lower life form. I just need to give it blood and it will heal my wounds! It gave me my freedom. It gave me my daughter. My wonderful daughter. And you didn't give me anything but regret. Humanity gave me nothing but pain. And now I will rip you apart to satiate what loves me".

Villian Type: Tragic Misanthrope

Rolan Deep is one of the main characters of the Blood In The Bayou alternate reality series: STB. He believed himself to be an average man before discovering his true nature as a demonic clone of who he assumed himself to be: leading to his subsequent spiral into madness.

Initially, even after unearthing the actual nature of his existence, Rolan maintained good faith and sought to protect his friends and humanity, being entirely willing to assist in the slaughter of his own creator if it meant aiding those in need. However, his complexion planted distrust amongst the humans he surrounded himself with, causing him isolation. In this isolation, Rolan harbored a valiant hatred and disgust towards the human race which contributed to his newfound villainy.

Biography:

Past

Rolan is a clone of an individual by the same name- he was conceived somewhere in the 70s as his original self peered down into murky bayou water seated next to a Willow Tree as a way to detach himself from his overprotective parents, before being pulled into the water and killed. He was completely ignorant to this fact and his birth manifested as a hazy memory of bodies which laid afloat in the water. This experience was disregarded by almost everyone he told, excluding Rand. Rolan, so perturbed by this incident, made an effort to move as far away from Galloway as possible. Ultimately, in order to escape his hometown, he moved to Chicago, Illinois to pursue a career in law.

Personality:

Former:

"Why does everyone treat me like I begged for this to happen?"
- Rolan's mental breakdown upon being revived by Rand for the final time.

Rolan did not start as a raving lunatic, he was, originally, a respectable, charming, yet cautious man. He was relatively calm and polite yet tended to get flustered immensely easily. Upon realizing he was not a human, Rolan grew hysterical- this warranted his first suicide prior to being revived by Rand.

Following his revival, Rolan became completely self-loathing, fixated on mending everything which went awry due to a looming guilt of his species. This manifested as a vehement fixation on killing The Queen, with or without assistance. Though, Rolan usually insisted he did not need help with this task. Rolan, in his self-hatred, would deprive himself of connection with Rand. Seeing himself unworthy of holding a relationship with him and a sense of guilt for Rand's obsession towards him... Rolan would attempt to push Rand away, both in an attempt to protect him and ensure Rand would not revive him after killing himself. Rolan would suffer from episodes of depression, typically harming himself in the process. In his depression, Rolan would use copious amounts of alcohol in order to ease his state. His desperate self-detestment resulted into an intense misery which halted him from allowing himself to participate in anything that handed him joy (that wasn't death, of course) without reprimand by his own action.

Rolan's self-hatred also did contribute to his detestment towards humanity, in Rolan's eyes, nobody truly aided him in his struggles no matter how much he had helped them. This was what deemed humanity as ungrateful in Rolan's head in future reflections of his experiences.

Rolan did genuinely love Rand and wished to keep him safe in the first instance of his perspective. He simply did not have the tools to uphold a healthy relationship with him. Seeing himself as a danger to him

Current:

As of presently, Rolan is commonly described as being insane, and for good reason.

He is extremely erratic which is illustrated through a perpetual chipper tone he only drops seldomly, in times he views it necessary. His erratic nature makes his bouts of violence all the more unsettling, Rolan is entirely willing to stoop to means of physical torture, verbal degradation, and intimidation if it means achieving his goals. This segment of his personality is perfectly shown in most of his interactions with STB Rand, his hatred for him manifests itself in all of Rolan's faults. Commonly, torturing him to the point of death and reviving him shortly after to do it all over again- to depict Rand what he made Rolan go through "tenfold." Rolan typically enjoys his process, laughing at and bickering with Rand while killing him, this fact proving him as a sadist.

Additionally, Rolan is inherently selfish and is aware of this fact, believing his selfishness to be earned and wholly deserved as retribution for his past selfless deeds. This bleeds into his perspective of humanity, dubbing them all ungrateful and selfish. Seeing as they are cyclical things, it's only fair that he is too.

Rolan is a potent misanthrope, believing himself as superior to the whole species of humanity, consistently degrading and mocking humans who try to debunk his essential bigotry towards them. He typically labels humans ungiving and weak as a reflection of his own experience, it is evident he additionally views humans as primitive beings that are prone to favoring their own kind no matter conditions. Despite his hate for them, Rolan can interact with humans in a civilized fashion, though in these interactions it is still painfully evident he loathes the human race.

Even so, Rolan still shows empathy and compassion, this side of him is mainly only shown to Nox, who he views as his daughter and treats her accordingly. In his interactions with her, Rolan never shows his violent tendencies- making an actual effort to not be so in front of her. He allows her to speak to Rand without interference despite his hatred for him and doesn't talk to Nox about any hatred he holds. Rolan is still fervently protective of Nox and what she should be involved in, getting upset at Rand for bringing her up in reference to the violence in their relationship as Nox plays no role in "what is between them" and rarely trusts her with anyone else other than Hligo Rolan. He praises Nox's buglike features and in doing so usually playfully comments on how scary she is. He is especially fond of her drawings, praising them and taking them to keep when given. He currently has one of her drawings in his pant pocket. The sanity that remains in Rolan is revealed through his bond with Nox.
